Herbert Archer & Herbert Holland opened Archer & Holland Jewellers on the corner of King William and Hindley Street Adelaide in 1918. Archer & Holland thrived for many years until the depression in the 1930s, when Herbert Holland bought out Herbert Archer’s share of the business.
Herbert Holland continued to run the business and was heavily involved in the Adelaide City Council. When Herbert died in 1957, Archer & Holland was taken over by his daughters until his grandson, Bill, and his wife, Meredith, bought the business from his parents John and Mary in 1992.
Bill and Meredith have continued the family tradition since then, with Bill manufacturing fine jewellery for over 30 years. Bill and Meredith have built a highly respected reputation for making exquisite jewellery, remodelling, and jewellery repairs.
Archer & Holland are proud of the fact that almost everything is made or repaired in their store, from replacing watch batteries to designing and making jewellery. Bill, who has created stunning pieces of jewellery for over 30 years and manufactures and repairs all pieces in store. Their business is built on quality, trust and the highest possible level of service. They strive to delight each and every one of their customers and this is why after 100 years, they continue to succeed and grow.
